Date

This Project consisted of the fitout of a new Nursing Simulation Suite within an existing building, including infrastructure works for in-ground chilled water lines to serve multiple buildings on campus. Initial works commenced with the strip out of the existing building including ceilings, walls and all electrical, mechanical and hydraulic fixtures. Significant make good works were undertaken to the building shell following demolition works. Fitout works commenced with installation of all services including compressed air and vacuum system, chilled water, gas heating system, hot water ring main,DALI LED lighting, security, access control, power and data. Due to the complex nature and restricted space above the ceiling, significant coordination was required between trades and input from the project consultants and client on site to ensure the service would operate at optimal performance for end users. Works continued with construction of partition walls and ceilings to create teaching spaces, storage areas, offices, labs, WC’s and simulation wards.

The internal fitout was complete with installation of joinery, painting, aluminium partitions, glazing, fixtures, floor coverings, furniture and services fit off. Whilst the fitout works were undertaken, 200 metres of in-ground chilled water pipework was concurrently installed to service the new simulation suite and for future upgrades of surrounding buildings. This required excavation of a bitumen driveway and paved pedestrian walkway. A temporary bridge was installed to avoid disruption to staff and students until works were completed. The final phase of the project required extensive site management to ensure biological control and medical health standards were maintained for handover. Good planning and ongoing communication between consultants, project stakeholders, contractors and The Slatter Group WA ensured the successful delivery of the project on time and to a high standard.
